Halloumi has become more and more popular in recent years and is now found on lots of restaurant menus. This squeaky cheese is served warm and makes an excellent option for cooking a quick easy vegetarian lunch. This Halloumi Wrap Recipe can be made in a matter of minutes is easily adaptable to include ingredients you already have in.
If you’re looking something a little bit different to make for lunch today, this Halloumi Wrap Recipe is the answer. It’s quick, delicious and can be made using odds and ends you have in the fridge.
Where To Buy Halloumi
Halloumi is now available in most supermarkets – there’s no need to go to a specialist supermarket – and can be found along with all the other cheeses. It also comes flavoured varieties if you’re looking to make your wrap that little bit more adventurous, including Chilli and Basil.
Halloumi has a lovely salty taste without being stringy like mozzarella. As it already has a high-fat content it needs very little oil for cooking – I tend to use a squirt of fry-lite to ensure it doesn’t stick to the pan but if you have a very good non-stick griddle pan it shouldn’t need any oil at all. It cooks very quickly too so it’s perfect for a quick lunchtime bite.
Halloumi Wrap Recipe
For this Halloumi Wrap Recipe, I used pea shoots, mixed peppers and onions to give some colour and crunch, but of course, these could be substituted for any salad items that need using up. I also chose not to add any additional sauces but I think sweet chilli goes very well of you think it needs an extra kick!
Serve with whichever side you’d like – chips, crisps or a nice side salad all go very well with this dish.
