Cookie dough is one of those things that seems to be inherently American. Like with a great many other American traditions it seems to have slowly made its way over to the U.K and has gradually gained popularity here too.
Popularized as a dessert by restaurant chain Pizza Hut, cookie dough can be a useful staple both for home baking in a flash and wipping up tasty dessert without the restaurant price tag. Wondering where to buy Cookie Dough in the UK? This post will explore your options and seek out the best flavours.
One thing I’ll happily admit to is having something of a sweet tooth. I love desserts and we’ll often indulge in something over the weekend as a special treat. Sometimes I’ll really crave something I’ve previously eaten in a restaurant and of course, going for dinner, especially just because I fancy a particular dessert isn’t always possible.
Over the years, I’ve started crafting some of those restaurant desserts at home. Of course, it’s cheaper, it’s adding to my skills set and it’s delicious.
What to Do With Cookie Dough
Cookie Dough can be used for so much more than just making Cookies – there’s our favourite, a hot cookie dough dessert, it can be used to make Domino’s style chewy cookies, it can be added to brownie batter, mixed into vanilla ice cream for a tasty Ben & Jerries dupe. The possibilities are endless.

Is Buying Cookie Dough Lazy?
Buying Cookie Dough isn’t lazy at all. Think of it more as a food hack. Of course, you can make your own but there are definitely times when a quick sugar or dessert fix is needed and this fits the bill. It’s also perfect for cooking with children as it lessens the mess (and the washing up!) but they can still roll, cut out and decorate their own cookies.
If you’re not the most prolific baker, Cookie Dough could be the answer – spending many years as a chef means my tendency is to throw random quantities of ingredients together and hope for the best – baking is more of a defined art and one I do sometimes struggle with. Premade would win out for me here, knowing I’ll have perfect cookies is a winner.
Where to buy cookie dough in the UK
It’s actually surprising how many of the U.K supermarkets actually stock cookie dough – I guess it’s easier to pass by if it’s not something you would usually purchase. I would expect a 300-gram pack of cookie dough to make around 8 good sized Cookies. Cookie dough is usually found in the chilled section close to the chilled pastry and butter.
My current favourites are the two flavours of cookie dough stocked by UK supermarket Asda – Milk Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (250 grams) and Triple Chocolate Cookie Dough (250 grams)
Sainsbury’s also has their version – slightly more expensive per 100 grams but a bigger pack. Sainsbury’s Cookie Dough Block (300grams) – don’t forget to grab Nectar points with your Nectar card!
Supermarket Tesco also has two flavours Milk Chocolate Chip and Triple Chocolate which are both 300-gram packs and come it at the same price per 100 grams as Asda.
Well-known baking brand Just-Rol also has their own version available at most big supermarkets. I have used this and was not a fan of it all – this is definitely a case of the own-brand versions being much better quality.

Can I Eat Raw Cookie Dough?
The official advice is that Cookie Dough should not be eaten raw, and this is usually down to the egg content. I have eaten it myself on lots of occasions and personally have never had an issue, but I can see why guidelines say otherwise. In particular, it should be avoided by those who are high risk – babies and young children, the elderly, pregnant women etc.
Order Cookie Dough Online
If you’re looking for something a bit more interesting Gookie Dough has a wide range of flavours available on their website. Their cookie dough is eggless so can be eaten raw without any worries. Varieties include Funfetti and Red Velvet and while not a cheap option they would make a super fun gift idea.
Edoughble also have a huge range of ready to eat cookie doughs which include flavours like Smores, Oreo and Snickerdoodle. Sadly for me, they are US-based so don’t deliver here.
Vegan Cookie Dough
Looking for some Vegan Cookie Dough? Yumbles has this pot of ready to eat Cookie Dough while over on Etsy there is this Cookie Jar featuring the dry ingredients – just add a vegan butter substitute of your choice and a little water.
